Plan on joining Gail Lipsitz Saturday, February 22, 2020 at noon for a discussion of "Three Floors Up" an intriguing story by Israeli author Eshkol Nevo.  "Three Floors Up" (2015), is set in a suburban Tel Aviv neighborhood, this novel is divided into three sections, one for each floor of the apartment building. We get to know the residents of the separate apartments "up close and personal," as they reveal their dreams, fears, successes, failures, and (mostly) troubled relationships. Several of the main characters are facing a crisis or moral dilemma, and the reader is invited to judge the actors' decisions, actions, and justifications. Nevo artfully makes the lives of his characters intersect with each other, bringing different perspectives to the concepts of "neighbor" and "community." Some have seen the novel as a microcosm of Israeli society, but it also has wider relevance. Eshkol Nevo, is a contemporary Israeli author of five best-selling novels, as well as short stories and children's books, that have also been popular with audiences abroad.
